Softball and baseball starts.

Remember when you were a kid and played in sports? My kids, Austin and Kortne, are playing ball this year again and it's very exciting. We dusted the ball bags off about a month ago and started throwing it around. Thats when I noticed the difference a year makes in a child's maturity and strength. Austin was much more mature in his approach to everything and Kortne was throwing rockets. This will be a fun year.

Fast forward to today, I'm the assistant coach for Kortne's team and having a blast teaching these 10 year old girls. Most of them have never been on a team before and are really eager to learn and get better. Its fun watching them grow from a group of individuals to a collective team working together to beat the other team. They are gaining the understanding of what their role is on the team, knowing what it feels like to get a hit and contribute, and how good it feels to have people clap for you and cheer you on.

We had our last practice before the first game Friday. Uniforms have been handed out and come this Saturday we will officially "Play Ball!". I'm looking forward to our team and our year and watching the girls grow as a team like they did last year. Austin has a really good set of coaches on his team as well and I expect him to have a really fun year as well.

Both kids are really excited and happy to be playing.
